Wedding ? Generation 1980-1990s it's time!

Mauritian Wedding or American Wedding ? :) Our generation is definitely that of the American Pie, Not another teen movie, Old School generation.. Et j'en passe des meilleurs. The American Wedding film  in 2003 is one of the masterpieces that our generation has undoubtedly made a classic of. How could we not recall the amazing moment where Jim asks for Michelle's hand. Good old times..

Time has passed and It's already time for wedding ! Many of my generation dudes are getting married, one after the other.. Didn't we say "on se donne rendez-vous dans 10ans?" - my kennedians dudes will remember. Oh well, The American Pie Generation should maybe think of an American Reunion ? :) hehe.. Wedding time is approaching for most of my friends and myself along (don't ask for an invite yet, the cards are not printed yet ! lolz). Time to take a step into a new chapter of our life, a step so much waited for some, a step that will change for most of us our life, a step that will bring a turning point to our life..Yes, we will be married. Less time for my blog, I wonder !. I can only hope not!.

Whatever be the case, The Salon du Mariage is opening its doors for a 4 days event at the Mer Rouge Convention Centre for those who do not know how to get there just try google maps :) hehe.. lolz.. The Exhibition will comprise of many companies and exhibitors who can help in the organisation of your wedding and making it a great moment. Dresses and other stuffs will also be available.

Some of my generation can now start thinking about their dream weddings, Mauritius has many facilities nowadays and your wedding would be no different from one made in U.S or U.K if you got the funds!. Why not made a great wedding entrance like this one >  http://ashfaqblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/best-clip-since-long-check-out.html

Just for fun.. The old American Wedding Trailer :) hehe..

24th Decembre 2011 in Port Louis, Mauritius

A 24th of December, what does it look like in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius ? Well knowing that Many of you didn't have time to come around and some of you probably had better stuffs to do than shopping I thought you still want to know how it was in Port Louis, My town.
The Caudan Waterfront was not very crowded and the shops were very quiet, looks like most persons preferred to do shopping in the shops around the Port Louis center, "La foire Plaine-Verte" and the streets of Port Louis rather than the Expensive shops of the Caudan.
The new Caudan Shopping mall was also very lonely, people here and there sitting and resting a bit, probably tired with loads of shopping around the streets of Port Louis.
Plaine Verte was without any doubts the most busy place in whole Mauritius last night. Thousands of persons converged to the "foire" of Plaine-Verte for last minutes shopping or simply for a walk around to look for the nice deals. Things are known to be sold very cheap during the last days of the year. So everyone came to check out and benefit from the crazy sales.

The Kadhafi Square Food court was really transformed with the tons of persons inside, at around 10pm the place was still packed with persons waiting for food.
Main Foods served at the Kadhafi Square Food Court at Night are:
  • Friend Noodles
  • Fried Rice
  • Haalim
  • Meatballs, Sao Mai, Nuk Yen, FishBalls, etc..
The street market is in 3 parts, Namely:
  1. the first part starting from Royal / Nicolay road (Renaissance / Locality) to end on Desforges Street.
  2. the second part starting from Kadhafi Square / Route des pamplemousses to near Happy Eater Fast food
  3. the third part starts just after happy eater to end near Paul et Virginie Street.
The picture above shows the Start of the 2nd part of the Street Market place. The street is blocked and converted into a market with sellers building tents on both sides of the road. The street market is along the "Jardin de la Plaine Verte" -PlaineVerte garden, on the street called Magon Street.

Ilot gabriel et Catamaran Tours

A lot of stuffs have been happening since sometimes and very few time to write on any of them. Maybe too many things happening too quickly. But anyway, the blog is back on air with a tons of posts waiting to be digested
We are in Holidays in Mauritius. The months of November and December are the summer holidays for the Mauritians and most persons are wondering what they could do to change from the past summers. Where haven't they been to in Mauritius? Have you been to the nearby islands?
Hint: Ile aux aigrettes, Ile aux benitiers, Ilot gabriel, Ile aux cerfs
(click on image for larger version)
Not many Mauritians have indeed had the chance to visit the nearby islands, some because it is too expensive and the others because they don't know how to or Maybe because it's too much a trouble that they don't feel like bothering themselves for during the holidays (Mauritians are quite lazy in general! lol!)
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
On the way to the Ilot Gabriel, you will get the chance to take nice shots of the Coin de Mire which is quite amazing or should i say astonishing.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
Picture of the Catamaran Royal Cruise which is really spacious and able to accomodate around 30 persons from what I could count. It is really a safe boat with all facilities. You are even served unlimited drinks on board and on the island.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
The Mauritius Endemic Bird Paille-En-Queue also known as the Paille en cul due to its tail. It is the first i get to get see so many of them. I counted around 30 of those just on the island.

(Click on the picture to enlarge)
The Paille En Queue here flying freely in the Mauritian Sky. It is a very pleasant bird to watch and it is not at all frightened by the presence of humans.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
Crawled down into the nest of the Paille-en-queue. Really amazed and astonished when I found two of those wonders lying there. It is the first time I get so close to one of them and will probably be an everlasting memory.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
We were served delicious spaghetti, with grilled chicken, grilled fish, sausages, bread and salad. The desert was some sort of banana split. Not bad at all. You can eat as much as you can.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
Those islands are the Ile au Phare and Penship (from what the skipper told me). They looked really great from where we were.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
The mast of the Catamaran boat. Really amazing, it was around 20ft tall(6-7 metres). It was not the last picture I took during the trip but the post is becoming too long and I got to end it now.
Keep Tuned. The Eagle's Lodge is back Live and Rocking..

24/7 at Plaine Verte - Pagoda Street - Port Louis

24/7 are events organized in Mauritius to promote night life and such that people understands what is meant by 24/7. Apart from the fact that shops are open and people drive around like it has been the case in Rose-Hill and Quatre-Bornes and Even Port Louis much earlier, We can say that it wasn't much of a success.

Last night was some other kind of 24/7 experience made for the first time in the heart of a residential location. It was with much curiosity and enthusiasm that I went there with my fiancee in finding some nice deals. Indeed, we did some nice deals. Bought gifts for mom! .. yea got nice gifts for mom and even for my fiancee.

I just hope you had a great night too ..
SPECIALLY WITH BARCELONA BEATING MAN UTD !! LOLZZ..

MO TI LABA ! TWA SI ?? comment lors la ! [OrangeExpo2011]

Hazard led me to click on the orange.mu website to check my emails which i haven't checked for years. I was very glad to find out that their would soon be an expo. I checked on the website and that's where it all started to get interesting. The website offered the possibility to send myself an orange invitation or an Orange Pass.. (will come to that one soon !). It reminded me that I already had 4 invitation cards ! .. I had put them aside and didn't pay attention to them. But seeing the innovative website and forthcoming event, I was quite curious about it and thought about applying for the Orange Pass. It said on the website that you can enter freely with it and that you can participate in quiz and win gifts..

Gifts ! .. That got me even more excited about it .. ! So, I applied and went to fetch my card at the MT tower. The information desk was very welcoming and I was definitely amazed when I received the plastic access-like card ! .. It seems that there's some sort of metal inside. I will cut it open once the Expo is Over ! .. ;) hehe.. Check out the Orange Pass..
Once I arrived there, and seen people buying tickets to get inside, I was overwhelmingly glad. I just showed my card and was inside. I was given a really nice bag. I use the ones I got last year every week to buy vegetables at the Marketplace. It is definitely very useful. That already made my day !. Check out the Bag below !..
Next, I obtained the nice necklace with the "MO TI LABA!" inside..There's a map of the sections inside. Used it to put my Orange Pass and noticed that it can be used as a Mobile Phone Necklace. Check it out ! :)

Then I started wandering around and played the quiz, that's the nice part of it. Since, you have to go around all five sections to get the five questions sent to your phone will passing the Orange Pass on posts.
Before I forget check out your favorite blog on a Huawei Tablet Below!!
Then, you can guess the rest. I received a congratulations message and I was rushing to the Information Desk. There, I received a nice tshirt as gift. Check it out below!.
It is quite true that I have been emotionally bribed with the gifts, but I actually found the Orange Expo quite nice. I got the chance to test the HD audio and I now know that I don't need to buy an HD audio phone !. That's my opinion. Oh yeah ! .. got a nice pen as gift ! .. Check it out below ..
A collage of some other pictures ! .. of the Orange Expo.. ! .. I will end this here since there's too much to say ..

CarrotMadman6 (A blogger) got me unknowingly on his Video !! .. lolzz
Check out Below !

So, How did you find Orange Expo ? Planning to Go there ??
To TI LABA ? Comment and Like .. :) cheerzz..

MBC or CBC ? Mauritius Tv

MBC (Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation) or CBC (Cultural Broadcasting Channels) ? The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporating has launched 6 more channels putting forward the cultural diversity of the country. We are here talking about the Mauritius Tv.

Tv- A big T for Tele ! and Small v for Vision. The MBC lacks vision. Some questions which are left unanswered!
  • Apart from the doordarshan channels which we already had, what was the need to add more doordashan channels ?
  • Is there such a demand for cultural channels ?
  • Has there been a survey by the MBC asking the MBC viewers the kind of channel they would want to have ?
  • Has there been a proper market research ?
  • If yes, what are the results of the Market Research ?
  • On what figures has the MBC based itself to determine the languages that represent each segment of the population ?
  • Is Arabic not spoken as much as Mandarin in Mauritius ?
So many question marks that give a very bad image to MBC Tv. A lack of vision that has tarnished the image on the regional scene. If all the cultures are now represented by individual channels why do we still have the cultural shows on mbc 1, mbc 2, mbc 3 and movies channel.
Why don't they put all hindi films on the channels broadcasting in hindi language?.
Why don't they put all urdu films and series on the channel broadcasting in urdu?
I could go on the like that..
What channel represent a large minority or majority of Mauritians who enjoy European and American shows / Films ?
Mauritians are fond of American / French / English movies, why are we not given a channel for those kind of movies / series ?
So many why ! So many question marks !
One of the important questions is definitely why have they chosen an urdu channel rather than an Arabic channel ?.

Who are those persons who lobby for the urdu against the arabic language ? This is very bad. Muslims go on pilgrimmage to Saudi Arabia, they should learn arabic, and indeed a large segment of the muslims know talking arabic. The quran is written in arabic. The muslims are learning or will definitely learn arabic to understand well their religion. Someone with 'vision' would see that their would indeed be a demand for a channel in Arabic language in the years to come. But someone with no 'vision' can also see yesterday. I understand however that it might not be easy to forecast demand for tomorrow. But, what is the trend today?.

If I can agree to the fact that for the liberty of everyone, it is the right of everyone to have a channel broadcasting in their cultural language. But it is very important that the right of the children of today are not sacrificed for the sake of cultural diversity. The children of today should be exposed to the western world, be fluent in english, french, if possible mandarin, arabic, spanish, russian and hindi. But, the culture of asians are changing, they are themselves following European and American culture. They are going towards the Western way of living. While, we are moving towards the eastern way of living. We should understand and learn to balance our society such that we can take benefits of the goods of each side and not end up with garbage.

Am I the only one thinking like that ? Have a point of view on that topic ? Please comment below

Transferanum - What does it mean ?

Transferanum - A word seemingly of latin origin, that not many know the complete sense in the era we are living, for the simple reason that we do not yet know what it is.
Transferanum - A combined word of Transfer and Anum - The literal sense would mean Transfer between times / era/ dimensions/ age- This word is unknown to us yet. But, the sense of it is already present in our imagination, in our mind.
Transferanum - Curve the Time to Transfer between the Ages.
Most of those who are used to science-fiction ( sci-fi ) movies would have a broader idea of what that means. The transfer between ages can be seen in well known series like Lost or Stargate. Transfer between ages does not only mean to transfer between ages in the same place we are now but also transfer from planet to planet. When we know that the distance to travel from one planet to another one is measured in light years. It is easy to imagine that we could transfer in time by remaining at the same place and transfer to another planet. That wouldn't be that much of unlogical or unprobable. As the theory of Einstein that instead of going from a point A to a point B. along a straight path. We could curve down the path and the 2 points would be nearer.
Transferanum V/S Transferium
The Transferanum is the transfer between ages while the transferium, is the place where this is done. Typically a laboratory or Military base.

That's the point I am getting to. If we can Transfer in time to such a point that we are 200-500million years back. We would be at the creation of the Universe. Without having to go and explore other places.

Transferanum is a word I invented and I am the sole owner of this word. Any body wishing to use this word for commercial purposes should contact me ! Just in case some people are thinking are making a movie with that name or with an apparatus in it called that name. This is my property and whoever uses it should require by consent.

The Match Mauritius V/S Nigeria ended 0-2 at the Germain Commarmond Stadium. But, It was one of the nicest football matches I had seen in Mauritius. After the match even had the opportunity to take a picture with the Nigerian Captain Fortune Chukwudi. A very simple young man and very good player too.

Arab & Jew Joke

An Arab goes to a Jew to buy black bras size 38.

The Jew, known for his skills as businessman, says that black bras are rare and that he is finding it very difficult to buy them from his suppliers. Therefore he has to charge $50.00 for them.

The Arab buys 25 pairs.

He returns a few days later and this time orders Fifty.

The Jew tells him that they have become even harder to get and charges him $60.00 each.

The Arab returns a month later and buys the Jew’s remaining stock of 50, and this time for $75.00 each.

The Jew is somewhat puzzled by the large demand for black bras and asks the Arab, please tell me what he does with all these Black bras.

The Arab answers: ‘I cut them in half and sell the halves as skull caps to the Jews for $100.00 each.

lolzz.. haha

old people joke

YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD? WELL.....YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE!

I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DENTAL DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.

SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS BALDING, GRAY HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS FAR TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK   SECONDARY SCHOOL .

'YES, YES I DID. I'M A MORGANNER! 'HE BEAMED WITH PRIDE.

'WHEN DID YOU LEAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE?' I ASKED

HE ANSWERED, IN 1965. WHY DO YOU ASK?

'YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!' I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.

THEN THE UGLY, OLD, BALD, WRINKLED, FAT ARSED, GREY HAIRED, DECREPIT BASTARD ASKED

 'WHAT DID YOU TEACH?'

Top Ten places to visit in Mauritius

Here we go, most tourists coming to Mauritius want a quick guide where to go and what to see in Mauritius .. Since it is a Top Ten .. Many places will not be included .. and Many places most people would say are a must to visit .. well .. u can suggest that in the comments .. our friends from germany, france, uk, indonesia would be really glad knowing those and checking out :)

So, let's get started:
  • Port Louis Waterfront
Many would have bet that place would be on my top ten .. lolz.. The main reason is because .. It is the only place in the whole island where you have the largest choice of foods and cuisines and can have a taste of chinese/indian/creole/mauritian/thai/american/French... cuisines and a nice place to catch up on football matches at the pubs at night. Also, Loads of duty free shops .. The best place for shopping ;) The Port Louis  bazaar is meters away.. you can check out there for nicer prices :) and if you are a fan of stamps, there's the blue penny museum ;)

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. Rush hour Decembre !Lolz..
  2. Mauritian Food and Lunch Foods.. :)
  3. Bazaar of Port Louis - History by itself

  • Grand Bay & Pereybere
Grand Bay is the main touristic village in the north .. It is also the main place for night life in Mauritius, so if you coming to Mauritius and want to have fun. Then, surely, .. you would want to go there. I added Pereybere which is some miles away from g.bay, It is in my top 3 beaches of Mauritius.. I would have said it is nicest beach of Mauritius but I wouldn't want to discourage you from visiting the other beaches ! lolz.

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. Night Life g.baie & Pereybere

  • The Black River Gorges & National Park

For that one you will need to be adventurous, cannot find any other words !! lolz.. Well, If you are into hiking and nature, This place is for you. Anyway, you ain't thinking of Mauritius only for the beaches, So .. check this place out.. Very nice place.. Superb views, Long trails into the woods.. Superb place for romance.. If you see what I mean ! lolz..Further down the gorges you will end up in the National Park. Or, you can prefer to go the other way round, from the National Park and Climbing up the gorges..

  • Pamplemousses Botanical Garden
The Botanical garden of Mauritius, there's actually two botanical gardens, 1 in Curepipe and 1 in Pamplemousses, you can visit both if you want. The one at Pamplemousses one is the biggest one and there's the small building they call a castle inside. Even if you are not into plants, you will surely find this place nice to visit, have a walk and see the different stuffs which are found only in Mauritius.

  • Naval Museum of Mahebourg and Dutch Ruins At Vieux Grand port.
This place isreally nice to visit, it is free entry to everyone, got nice stuffs inside.. The Dutch Ruins .. are as you might have guessed .. simply ruins !! lolz.. but that's a nice place to take pictures too ..

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. From Palace to Museum
  2. On the Traces of the Dutch

  • Le Morne
The Le Morne Brabant is found in the south of the island. It is a place with not many people living around but mostly hotels. There you will find the Le Morne mountain which is classified by the World Heritage comittee of the U.N. Many slaves used to go there to escape from their masters and many dived from the mountain to escape the atrocities of slavery. There are many nice viewpoints in the area .. you can go south to La prairie and take a long drive on the south coast of the island with even nicer viewpoints.

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. Around Mauritius by Ashfaq

  • La roche qui pleure / Souffleur
This place is really amazing, superb views, resembles scotland's farmlands and cliffs .. a mix of the two .. The big waves are unique to Mauritius though. The rocks are porous and at each backslash you will hear the rocks breathing. Really amazing.

  • Midlands
Midlands.. Nice memories .. Mist on the Moors .. hehe .. I will only put one picture on this post.. check out the  post I made on that wonderful place :)

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. Midlands - Mist on The Moors

  • Chamarel
Also known as the 7 colored earth, There's a piece of land there where you have 7 colored soils. They sell it as souvenirs too. It is a nice place to go to. Wonder if they still sell it though ! .. lolz...

  • Signal Mountain
It is one of the mountains that surround the City of Port Louis, The view at the top of the mountain is simply fabulous .. there is a road to up of the mountain where a lot of people do jogging every evening. Also the mountain has that name since there's a tv/radio station at the top. The view from the top at night is really nice but you might need a torch to walk back down .. lolz..

You might want to check my previous and longer posts on this place:
  1. Port Louis by Night from Signal Mountain

  • Sept Cascades
For this one, you will probably need some meters of climbing cords, pairs of nice shoes, your swimming suit, .. your camping stuffs and food !.. yea .. you will need all that if you really want to go there. It is one of the most dangerous and thrilling places in Mauritius. If you want to get back home for dinner, you might also want to take a torch. But, if you are on holidays, and don't bother about time, just take a small tent and camp down the valley. Hmm.. Very important, Take a guide if you are not used to hiking, you might die down there, The place is VERY DANGEROUS.
First, you will need to figure where henrietta is on a map, you go there. It is free of access. Just ask the farmers around and they will tell you which way to go. It is easier to go down than to come up. Remember that. The way you take to go down, you might not want to take the same way up.

The Easiest way would be to climb down the seven waterfalls and then go up by climbing some way up the valley. The water in the pools made in the rocks are simply extraordinary. I spent nearly 1 hour in one of those, there was even a small waterfall with water flowing on my head.. Superb time.
I would recommend you to arrive there around 8am. We did the climbing down and climbing up from 8am to 6pm. Just in Time !!! why ?? Because 6pm the sun was setting down !! and with no light .. It is IMPOSSIBLE to climb up. You need to be fit to go down there. Take some pills so that your legs don't tremble, it could cost your life.
    Ending Words:
All the places I mentioned are free of charge to access except the Pamplemousses garden. I hope you have a nice time in Mauritius and you can contact me if you need more information :) .. Have fun .. cheerz..

Also, Out of the Top Ten places, you might want to check out Ile aux aigrettes which is a really nice place:
You might want to check my pictures of this place:
    1.  Ile aux Aigrettes.. Nature Bliss
    2. Ile aux Aigrettes
